Practice Information Cathy represents labor unions and individual employees. Cathy handles unfair labor practice, representation and contract cases on behalf of public- and private-sector unions. She also represents individual employees and groups of employees in discrimination, licensure and wage and hour cases. She practices before state and federal courts and administrative agencies. Cathy joined our office in January, 2007 after practicing in Boston, Massachusetts. In Boston, Cathy represented public and private sector unions, employees, and retirees. They included telephone workers, fire fighters, police officers, health care workers, bus drivers, and grocery store workers. Cathy's work brought her before state and federal courts, including appellate courts, the National Labor Relations Board, labor arbitrators, and a variety of state agencies. Her work involved not only labor and employment law, but also work in a number of other areas, such as pension law, municipal law, and election law. She helped her clients challenge discriminatory terminations, unfair labor practices, underpayment of wages, and violations of the constitutional rights of public employees. Even before becoming an attorney, Cathy was active in the labor movement. She organized public support for Oregon and California strawberry pickers who were fighting for higher wages and decent working conditions. She also worked with Justice for Janitors in California and was a rank-and-file organizer in a UFCW organizing drive at her own workplace.
